Patrícia Nogueira born in Porto, in 1980.
Patrícia is a doctoral candidate in Digital Media at UT Austin-Portugal International Program and a fellow researcher from the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology. Her research aims to understand audiences in interactive documentary and she is working along with National Film Board of Canada to pursue this objective. Also, she has a MFA in Documentary Film, teaches at School of Music, Arts and Performing Arts and directs her own documentaries. Furthermore, she works regularly with other directors, both in fiction and documentary films.
Documentary was the way she chose to express herself about the surrounding world and her inner concerns. She likes to deeply know people, try to understand them, create a relationship and give them a voice. In her first feature documentary, 3 hours to love, Patricia pursue her favorite topic and try to engage audience with women's emotions and sexuality. She usually says that is "a feminine film from a feminine point of view". The film won the award for Best Documentary at Viana do Castelo Cinema Meetings (2013) and was officially selected for DocLisboa (2013), Cine Las Americas, at USA (2014), FEST (2014) and Berlin Feminist Film Week (2015).
Persevering curiosity is part of her personality. She traveled around Europe. Lived in Paris, Brussels, Lisbon, but It is in Porto, the city where she born, that she feels at home.
